Pine Eagle Pre-School
Pine Eagle Community Preschool began in 2003 as a parent cooperative program in response to the removal of the Eastern Oregon Head Start Halfway classroom, which ended due to budget cuts and inconsistent enrollment. This left the rural remote “panhandle” area of Baker County, Oregon, with no preschool. Located in a classroom at the Halfway Elementary School building, the Preschool has actively collaborated with and been supported by the following: Pine Eagle Charter School, ESD, Leo Adler Community Foundation, Baker County Commission, United Community Partners and numerous community groups.
The program runs during the school year from 8-11 am and serves 3-5 year olds. There are fundraisers held throughout the year so that fees can stay low, and work exchange/scholarship opportunities for families needing assistance.
